Internet Courses at the Felixstowe Library

Would you like to learn about the Internet, find out what it could do for you and be safe online?

Lxpert and the Felixstowe Library are working together to offer Internet and computer courses to people in the local community. This is a great opportunity for people to find out what the Internet is all about, the benefits and how to stay safe online. The course is a series of fun and interactive sessions to demystify the Internet with role-playing exercises, hands-on exercises, videos and quizzes. All attendees will receive a certificate on completion of the course and some take home notes. The courses are suitable for a wide range of audience, from absolute beginners and technophobes to regular users who would like to improve their understanding of the inner-workings of the Internet.

The courses will be held at Felixstowe Library, Crescent Rd, Felixstowe IP11 7BY

Introduction to the Internet (Internet Taster)

A computer course teaching you the fundamentals of the Internet. The course will cover: What is the Internet? How does it work? What can you do with it? It is absolute beginner and technophobe friendly. More information here.

Introduction to Email

A computer course teaching you the fundamentals of email. The course will cover: What is Email? How does it work? How to use it? There will be hands-on email exercises to gives attendees the chance to try it for real. More information here.

Finding Information Online

A computer course teaching you how to find information online. The course will cover: What is a search engine? How does it work? How to find information with search engines? There will be hands-on exercises to give attendees the chance to do some information searching. More information here.

Internet Security and Safety

A computer course teaching you the fundamentals of Internet security and how to stay safe online and offline. The course will cover: Why the Internet is safe (or unsafe)? What are the risks? How to stay safe online and offline? It is accompanied by a selection of videos to help attendees remember the risks. More information here.

Social Media and The Cloud

A computer course teaching you the fundamentals of social media and the cloud. The course will cover: What is Social Media? Explore the common social networks. Pros & cons of social media and dos & don’ts when using social media. What is The Cloud? Explore the different kind of cloud services. It is accompanied by a selection of videos to help attendees remember the key points.

  • "Introduction to the Internet" (Internet Taster) - FREE (Get Online Week special).
