It's Get Online Week in the week commencing 17th October 2016. There are thousands of events take place in communities all across the country, showing people how the internet can make life easier, cheaper, healthier and more fun! Certainly this is a celebration not to be missed. Our experts in the community are busy setting up events to help people to get online and use technology. Here is a list of events available around the Ipswich area. Happy Get Online Week!

 

Monday (17th)

Free computer advice and support at AgeUK Ipswich

AgeUK Ipswich

Date/Time: Monday 17 October, 2pm - 4pm

Location: AgeUK Ipswich Help Centre, 41A Upper Brook St, City Centre, Ipswich IP4 1DU (opposite Sainsbury's)

For: AgeUK customers

Volunteering Expert: Kennedy

Description: AgeUK Suffolk and Lxpert are offering FREE computer advice and support to older people. Those browsing at the AgeUK shop in Ipswich Town Centre will have an opportunity to speak to one of Lxpert's volunteering local IT experts about any computer, Internet or technology-related issues they might have - from getting advice, through learning digital skills, to technical support. Tuesday (18th)

Get Online at Chantry Library

Chantry Library Ipswich

Date/Time: Tuesday 18 October, 10am - 4pm

Location: Chantry Library, Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, IP2 0QY

For: All welcome

Volunteering Expert: Jeremy (aka How 2 Use IT)

Description: There will be a talk about how to get onto WiFi, what apps are and how to use them and also how to use a search engine to find out information. You are invited to bring your own device for help, hints and tips. We will also offer a question and answer session. The Library has Free Wifi for all that attend. We look forward to seeing you there.

 

An Introduction to the Internet (class and drop-in sessions)

East of England Co-op Education Centre Ipswich

Date/Time: Tuesday 18 October, 10am - 4:30pm

Location: East of England Co-op Education Centre, 11 Fore Street, Ipswich, Suffolk IP4 1JW (book your place at the reception or call 01473 280 316)

For: Members of the Education Centre community.

Volunteering Expert: Kennedy

Description: Free, fun and interactive class to demystify the Internet with drop in sessions on "all things online" before and after the class. Suitable for absolute beginners and technophobes friendly. Lead by Kennedy, Computer Tutor and consultant from Lxpert. Tea / coffee provided.

Class: 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Drop-in sessions: 10am-12noon & 2pm-4:30pm

Wednesday (19th)

Get Online at Broomhill Library

Date/Time: Wednesday 19 October, 10am - 1pm
